About
Nick & Lauren
Nick moved to Vermont in 1979 and began his construction career as a custom marble, slate, and ceramic tile setter. He tiled, among other structures, Vermont court houses, Ben & Jerry’s buildings, and numerous multi-million dollar homes. Once he realized his passion lay in master craftsmanship and traditional timber-frame construction, Nick designed and constructed this spectacular timber frame home for himself.
Nick and Lauren met in the mid-1990s after Lauren shared with a mutual friend her ever-increasing frustration as she sought to hire a builder to design and build her own timber frame home. Proclaiming it to be the most beautiful, carefully crafted custom home he had ever seen, their friend brought Lauren to look at Nick’s home – and, after much entreaty, Nick agreed to design a similar house for Lauren … the rest, as they say, is history. The couple live together in the home Nick designed for Lauren – a timber frame just minutes down the road.
From concept development to final installation, Nick is unmatched in his level of craftsmanship. His desire was to design and build a one-of-a-kind luxury home with over-sized post and beam timbers and to finish it with natural materials such as stone, wood, and metal work. The furnishings and art pieces reflect the cultures from many countries to which they have traveled.
